Using European Mobile Phones in Japan?
Hi there, I live in Ireland but I’m going to Japan for five months next week and I’m wondering what the situation is with European mobiles over there. I have a Nokia E51 with Vodafone and it is 3G enabled with tri and quad band connectivity. I’m wondering will this work and if not, what is the most economical option for me regarding calling and receiving calls from Ireland?

No problems.
If your cell phone is 3G and UMTS/GSM Quadband, then it works in Japan. WCDMA is the same as UMTS.
Vodafone works well there, through Softbank company
